Pressroom Supervisor (3rd Shift)

SUMMARY:

As the 3rd Shift Pressroom Supervisor, you will lead and coordinate our overnight press team to ensure seamless execution of the daily press schedule. In this role, you'll oversee nightshift press operations and perform meticulous quality checks on printed materials to guarantee every job strictly conforms to Arandell's high specifications.

This opportunity features a competitive salary range of $70,000 - $78,000!

WHAT YOU’LL DO ON THE A-TEAM:

  • Monitor and improve press speeds, waste, processes, and labor.
  • Assist QC department in color approvals and customer issues as needed.
  • Maintain and monitor the completion of all necessary records, such as daily production and throughput, plate make-over requests, maintenance requests, accident reports, counseling records, press production information sheets, and roll performance records, as assigned.
  • Assist operators in the coordination of preventative maintenance and repairs for presses.
  • Follows all plant and OSHA procedures, including performing all duties safely and in accordance with all work and safety rules and established work and industry practices.
  • Observe press operations and examine printed material to verify conformance with press run specifications to meet and exceed internal and external customer expectations.
  • Maintain positive communication and objectives within the pressroom on all shifts.
  • Coordinate staffing efforts to effectively meet all quality and production requirements while maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
  • Communicate effectively with all internal and external customers to ensure that all production requirements, schedules, quality, and final deliveries of our products are satisfactory.
  • Ensure appropriate administration of the Union contract for affected employees; proactively seek to ensure any future contract language supports business needs.
  • Lead the development and implementation of policies, plans, and procedures related to supplier and contractor relationships.
  • Authorize quality of product once proofs are checked for ink coverage and density, alignment, and registration.
  • Able to work any hours as required by business need.
  • Proactively protects our community and reduces our footprint on our environment by keeping focus on continually improving our products and environmental programs.
  • Communicate and address excess downtime to the Scheduling department.
  • Performs all miscellaneous and special duties as assigned by management.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Print industry experience required.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience in a press department or ten (10) years of work experience gained through training in all phases of press work in the printing industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of all pressroom operations and procedures.
  • Strong understanding of production schedule and execution.
  • Knowledge of general maintenance procedures.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in a union facility is preferred.
  • Requires strong results-driven leadership skills.

  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a shift.
  • Excellent close vision, color perception, and depth perception to inspect printed materials for color accuracy, registration, and fine details against proof specifications.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to operate press controls, handle delicate tools, and perform quick mechanical adjustments.
  • Frequent use of hands to type, finger, handle, grasp, or touch objects and tools.
  • Frequently is required to talk or listen.
  • Occasional standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, squatting, stooping, crouching, crawling, twisting, bending, reaching.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse setting, may experience temperature fluctuations and high activity levels.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and crouching to inspect materials.
